The Fight Against Neglected Tropical Diseases: Why It Matters for Nepal’s Future

Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) may not grab headlines, but their impact on vulnerable communities is profound. In Nepal, where rural and marginalized populations often bear the brunt of these diseases, addressing NTDs is crucial for improving public health and achieving sustainable development.

At the Research and Community Development Center (RCDC), we are committed to bringing attention to these often-overlooked diseases. Our work focuses on understanding the prevalence of NTDs in Nepal, raising awareness about their impact, and implementing effective strategies for their control and elimination.

NTDs like leprosy, lymphatic filariasis, and intestinal worms continue to affect the health and livelihoods of many Nepalis. These diseases are not only debilitating but also perpetuate cycles of poverty and inequality. By prioritizing NTD research and advocacy, RCDC aims to ensure that these diseases are no longer neglected and that affected communities receive the attention and resources they deserve.

Through collaboration with local and international partners, RCDC is making strides in reducing the burden of NTDs in Nepal. Our efforts are helping to build healthier, more resilient communities and contribute to the broader goal of health equity.
